High-Visibility ANSI Ratings Explained

When looking at high-visibility products, you'll often see a Type and Class rating. ANSI ratings and classes refer to a set of safety standards established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). These standards were put in place to help workers make smart decisions when looking for clothes or vests to wear in low light or low visibility conditions. It's important to consider these ratings and classes to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.

Class 1 apparel is appropriate for workers in low-risk environments (such as large warehouses) while Class 2 apparel is recommended for workers in high-risk environments (such as roadwork or labor in dim areas).

Type R is designed for workers who are exposed to roadway traffic. Type O is designed for workers who are exposed to off-road environments, such as construction sites or warehouses. Type P is designed for workers who are exposed to inclement weather conditions, such as rain or snow.
